Berlin Art Week 2016

With support from the Senate Department for Economics, Technology and Research / Projekt Zukunft, the event with its two key exhibitions ‘art contemporary Berlin’ and ‘POSITIONS Art Fair’ will be dedicated to contemporary combining exhibitions, art fairs, art awards, and an auxiliary programme featuring talks, films, and guided tours. Art Week shows the diversity of Berlin as a place of sale, production and exhibition and presents itself as a showcase for the Berlin art scene.

Berlin Art Week offers new and surprising insights into private collections, project rooms and places of production in the city. With approximately 300 galleries, Berlin has the highest density of galleries in Germany. The focus of attention will be, once again, the exhibitions abc art berlin contemporary and Positions Berlin – Art Fair. And this year as well, numerous visitors and guests from Germany and around the world are expected to attend.  More than 50 partners sponsor 120 events that will be taking place during Berlin Art Week. 

2012 was the founding year of Berlin Art Week. From the very beginning, the Senate Department for Economics, Technology and Research has been supporting Art Week in order to provide a platform for the art scene in Berlin and for national and international collectors, artists and the interested public to meet. 

This year again the visitors to the event can marvel at the latest art trends and the works of established artists who will be presenting their pieces at the two exhibitions abc – art contemporary berlin and POSITIONS Art Fair. 

abc – art berlin contemporary
The gallery exhibition abc art berlin contemporary was founded in 2008 and has since been taking place every year in the middle of September. From 15 to 18 September 2016, national and international artists will be presenting contemporary art at the exhibition. abc – art berlin contemporary will be taking place in Station Berlin at Gleisdreieck.

Positions Berlin
From 15 to 18 September 2016, 74 selected galleries from 13 countries will be presenting their most concise artistic positions. The third edition will be taking place at Postbahnhof which is centrally located near Ostbahnhof railway station. More information at: http://positions.de/start.html
