Berlinale – The Berlin International Film Festival
Film fans all over the world are looking to Berlin: From 7 to 17 February the Berlin International Film Festival is taking place this year for the 63rd time. Numerous international film stars have announced their attendance. 24 films from various countries will be competing for the Golden and Silver Bears. The winners will receive their prizes on Saturday, 16 February 2013 at the award ceremony. The competition films include new works from such directors as Gus Van Sant, Steven Soderbergh and Richard Linklater. German hopes rest on Thomas Aslan's emigrant epic "Gold". You will find further information about the competition programme and tickets on the official Berlinale website.
Berlinale Talent Campus with the thematic focus "Some like it hot"
Selecting international filmmakers for the 11th Berlinale Talent Campus was no easy task. 300 talents (writers, directors, producers, cinematographers, actors, etc.) were chosen out of 4,443 applications from 137 countries. With "Some Like It Hot – Filmmakers as Entertainers" as the thematic focus, emerging filmmakers are invited to the HAU (Hebbel am Ufer) in Berlin and brought together with major players from the international film industry. One of the most exciting initiatives at the Berlinale, the Campus gives established and aspiring filmmakers the opportunity to discuss new trends and to network. The platform already boasts numerous success stories. Selected film projects are funded and also presented online via the <link http://www.berlinale-talentcampus.de/campus/project/index _blank external-link-new-window>Campus-Community</link>. Specially tailored coaching programmes complete the scope of the Campus.
Berlinale Co-Production Market in the Berlin House of Representatives
Once again this year, the Berlin International Film Festival hosts the Berlinale Co-Production Market, lasting two-and-a-half days, in the Berlin House of Representatives. 500 experienced international producers, film financiers and distributors as well as other representatives from the industry come together to initiate international co-productions. The official selection of the Berlinale Co-Production Market embraces 25 projects which previously prevailed against numerous other submissions. The selected producers are brought together specifically with potential co-production and financing partners. In addition, ten Berlinale Talent Campus participants get the chance to present their ideas and projects to producers and film financiers at the Talent Project Market.
