Electronic application procedure facilitates broadband expansion

So far, the telecommunications companies had to have their construction projects approved by filling in paper applications before they could start laying any cables. This procedure is now being handled electronically with a software. Seeing as the processes are now fully digitised and standardised across the whole of the city, the Senate Department is expecting “significantly shortened approval procedures”. Another advantage: As soon as users start entering applications, the software automatically checks whether the data is plausible. The districts of Spandau, Neukölln, Treptow-Köpenick and Lichtenberg launched the electronic procedure at the beginning of February.
