The “Deep Tech Stars” awards 2017 were presented by Christian Rickerts, Permanent Secretary at the Senate Department for Economics, Energy and Public Enterprises and the board members of ICT & Digital Business Association Berlin (SIBB), Thomas Schröter and Dirk Stocksmeier. The event took place at SAP Labs in Berlin.

Christian Rickerts, Permanent Secretary at the Senate Department for Economics, Energy and Public Enterprises explains the significance of the Deep Tech Award for Berlin as a business location: “Deep Tech stands for innovations, and innovation is one of the city’s main driving forces. With this in mind, Deep Tech plays a very important role for the city. The appeal and inspiration resulting from the Deep Tech Award reaches far into the digital scene, allowing us to see what really happens in Berlin. For example, the classic small- and medium-sized businesses can draw inspiration in the field of digital transformation from the solutions offered within the framework of the Deep Tech Award“.

“The biggest success of the Deep Tech Award are the winners of the previous year, as they were using the prize to make themselves better known, to do more business and to improve their chances with investors in order to receive more funding. We were already able to see this success for ourselves. Apart from that, we are of course very pleased about the steadily growing appeal and inspiration of the awards. The more is written about the award, the higher the number of participants and visitors and therefore also participation both among the public, the industry and economic policy is growing”, says jury member and <link>SIBB e.V</link> chairman Thomas Schröter, taking stock after three years of Deep Tech Award.
