State Secretary Christian Rickerts, Senate Department for Economics, Energy and Public Enterprises of the State of Berlin:  “Whether in the energy sector, the healthcare industry or mechanical engineering - topics such as the Internet of Things, Additive Manufacturing and Artificial Intelligence are gaining in importance for more and more Berlin companies. In particular, we wish to support small and medium-sized companies which offer innovative solutions in the fields of hardware and system-related software. With the presentation of the Deep Tech Award, we are making the sustainable potential of our city more visible."

Dirk Stocksmeier, Deputy Chairman of the Board of SIBB e.V. on the competition:“The 4th Deep Tech Award will once again put the spotlight on Berlin's IT companies which develop innovative, technology-intensive solutions and products. As cross-sectional technologies, they make a major contribution to digitization, value creation and innovative spirit of the whole of the capital region. Giving them a stage and impetus for further successful development has been the motivation for the joint competition of the Senate Department for Economics, Energy and Public Enterprises and SIBB since the start in 2015. In the meantime, some of the award winners have written impressive success stories to which the Deep Tech Award has contributed. I am curious to see which stories will start with the fourth award ceremony and who will be on stage as Deep Tech Star 2019."

Former winner Lothar Feige from pikkerton GmbH, who received a Deep Tech Star for the SC-100 fall detection system developed for home use in 2015, encourages companies to apply: "For us, the DTA 2015 was an important milestone in many respects. We applied for such an award for the first time. The application and registration process was uncomplicated and extremely motivating due to the attractive prize money. In addition, our participation opened up new horizons for us with regard to further awards, including international ones.
