Participation in the German Digital Awards requires that the projects submitted were published for the first time in 2016 in Germany, Austria or Switzerland. Exempt from this are corporate websites, digital commerce and (corporate) blogs/portals/forum sites.

The projects ranking first, second and third will collect important creative points that will be added to the digital creative ranking, published by the Bundesverband Digitale Wirtschaft (BVDW) e.V. in collaboration with media partners HORIZONT and Werben & Verkaufen, as well as the HORIZONT creative ranking.

The German Digital Awards ceremony will take place in Berlin on 27 April. TV satirist Jan Böhmermann will be making his return as the host of the Awards, after hosting the show’s premiere last year.

About the German Digital Awards

At the heart of the Awards are nine main categories reflecting the most relevant areas of the digital industries. The <link http://www.bvdw.org/ - external-link-new-window "Opens internal link in current window">Bundesverband Digitale Wirtschaft (BVDW) e.V.</link> has added three subcategories to the previous year: Programmatic Creativity as the main category for Digital Advertising formats and Influencer Marketing as the main category for Branded Content. In addition, the Digital Installations/Events subcategory will be extended by a Virtual Reality category and an Augmented Reality category.

Under the auspices of the Bundesverband Digitale Wirtschaft (BVDW) e.V. the German Digital Awards replaces the DMMA OnlineStar and moves the German Awards scene towards the future. Using differentiated assessment criteria, an expert jury will select pioneering projects in the digital industries.
