This year, re:publica 18 will be held under the motto “POP – the power of people” from 2nd to 4th May.

Apart from Danah Boyd, speaker of the keynote address, the physicist and science journalist Ranga Yogeshwar, writer, activist and feminist Laurie Penny, journalist and director of “Ranking Digital Rights” Rebecca MacKinnon, and Wikimedia director Katherine Maher are among the highlights of the 12th re:publica confirmed so far.

re:publica opens up to a new target group

For the first time this year, additional event formats are implemented within the framework of the event with the aim of reaching out to new target groups and to further promote the topic of digitalisation.

Four specialised half-day symposia will be held within re:publica, focusing on the topics of digital food, digital retail, women in fintech and experience marketing. The aim of these conferences is to create subject-oriented exchange and knowledge transfer.

The symposia will take place in the German Museum of Technology on the last two days of the conference. They are powered by and in cooperation with <link https://www.conferencegroup.de/>dfv Conference Group GmbH</link> and <link http://english.dfv.de/ - - "Opens external link in new window">Deutscher Fachverlag GmbH</link>.

Another new feature this year is the networking party which will take place on the outdoor area of the STATION on the last day of re:publica 18 on 5th May. Whereas there are in particular digital experts present at the conferences, the festival is aimed at a broad audience. Short presentations, interactive workshops and showcases will shift the spotlight towards social, cultural and technological changes in digitalisation, take up current topics and challenges, giving everyone a deeper understanding of complex digital topics.
