Funding

Berlin isn’t just an investment-friendly environment, but also offers attractive financing and funding programs for investors and businesses. The European Union and the federal government participate in local programs such as the collaborative project "Verbesserung der regionalen Wirtschaftsstruktur" (GRW) or offer their own programs.

Berlins funding policy’s goal is to strengthen the innovation capacity and competitiveness of Berlin’s economy. Growing industries such as the media industry and the information and communication technology are focal points of the funding. Spread over these programs, around 30 percent of the annual economic funding of the country goes to companies part of these industries. Apart from the general/specific funding programs, which are mostly given out by the Investitionsbank Berlin, business oriented infrastructural projects in favour of the information and communication technology, the media- and creative economy are funded by the Senate Department for Economics, Energy and Public Enterprises/Project Future.
