Business consultancies discover the start-up scene
Berlin is in a startup fever. The German capital has overtaken other major cities in Europe and is considered the most exciting city for innovation and startups in the world. Domestic companies increasingly make use of that. This is particularly reflected in two new openings in the city: Deloitte's "Greenhouse" and Roland Berger's "Spielfeld".
"Spielfeld" is located on 1,000 square meters in Skalitzer Strasse in Kreuzberg. Its aim is to link "old" and "new economy". In practice, start-ups and other companies are given the possibility to generate valuable synergies, be it in the form of specific projects, events or workshops.
For business consultancy Roland Berger, which also supports the recently founded <link http://www.berlin.de/projektzukunft/networking-events/neu-in-berlin/artikel/die-internet-economy-foundation/>Internet Economy Foundation</link>, this marks the next step in the extension of the network "Terra Numerata" (country of numbers) that was initiated in 2014. But "Spielfeld" not only involves the experiences and networks of business consultancies; financial services provider Visa is on board, too. "Spielfeld" will become part of the Visa innovation lab "Visa Europe Collab", which is already working on financial services of the future in Tel Aviv and London.
Audit company Deloitte is headed in a similar direction. With its "Greenhouse" at Kranzler Eck, Deloitte has not only created an innovation lab but also an elite training centre in the area of digitisation – a digital boot camp for managers, as it were.
