Projekt Zukunft, the state initiative funded by the Senate Department for Economics, Energy and Public Enterprises, will be supporting this year’s event.

As every year, the event will offer lectures at the interface of learning and education theories. This is why <link http://researchinggames.net/home/>researching games BarCamp</link> is primarily aimed at students, whose scientific focus is on computer games and internet culture.

The event's agenda will be set by all participants as the event goes along,

with presentations taking place during up to five parallel tracks. Potential methods of presentation include:

  • Lecture (20 minutes + 15 minutes of discussion):
    Academia’s “classic“
  • Lightning talk (5 minutes):
Brief presentation of an idea, similar to an elevator pitch
  • Discussion forum (35 minutes):
Preparation and moderation of a discussion on a games-related issue
  • (Tech) demo (20 minutes + 15 minutes of feedback):
Project presentation with subsequent feedback session
  • Rant (5 minutes):
Critique of an issue in the area of digital games research or practice

About researching games BarCamp

“researching games BarCamp”, in short #resgames, was founded in 2011 in Wiesbaden as a networking event aimed at the scientific exploration of digital games. During the last five years, the event’s organisers were able to establish contact between academics from a wide range of scientific disciplines and develop an active and interdisciplinary dialogue. Since 2016, #resgames has been taking place as part of the <link http://www.gamesweekberlin.com/>International Games Week Berlin</link>.

The event is aimed at facilitating a more intense exchange between academia and practice. The BarCamp format supports this exchange. In this context, #resgames defines itself as a supplement to purely scientific conferences or practice-oriented events.
